Ok so for the last few weeks since my last post I have been really tied up with work, this new collection and trying to get things in order for school, which by the way has been beyond stressful. Between dealing with life and going through prolonged periods of brain block my mind has been working overtime but the good side is my second collection is almost complete!!!!! I loved the pieces in the first one but I believe with this one I took more time finding my vision and inspiration making sure that every piece reflected that appropriately. I also feel that with this second collection my love of statement pieces is more evident. I did a lot of fighting myself with what people would want and if things were "too much" for them but in the end I had to make sure that each piece was created in true Deviant Attire fashion, Statement making! I will say, I have had to make two of each piece because I want to cover myself in all of them lol. With that being said I will give you all the story behind this collection and my inspiration images.
As you all know I am a HUGE fan of ethnic jewelry and African cultures and I believe I showcased that with this collection called Out of Africa. The main material I used this time was the cowrie shell which has alot of significance in many African cultures. The big one being a form of currency which was also a practice in china and even india at one time. The cowrie shell is also a symbol of womanhood, fertility, birth, wealth, and rank (when worn by cheiftans and higher ranking officials). I used this because not only do I love the way they look but they equate to wearing money and translating wealth and class, its almost as if you were wearing diamonds (a girls best friend lol). I also chose to use clay, porcelain, wood, horn, coral, and magnesite which I have mixed together to create some beautiful pieces some of which resemble traditional ones. If everything goes according to plan and schedule (which so far it is) Out of Africa will debut on my birthday which is July 15th! it will be available on Etsy.com shortly after. last but not least here are the pictures that inspired me enjoy!!

P.S. All of my pieces are currently available at etsy.com/shop/DeviantAttire
